As a unit indicating the dimensions of mesh, it indicates
the number of mesh within a lineal distance of 1 inch(25.4mm).
In case it is not recognizable due to smallness of
mesh, use a magnifying glass for measurement(or mesh
gauge).
Wire
It is shown as the thickness of wire itself, or by
the number of the wire gauge list. Unless specifically
designated, B.W.G shall apply when it is thicker then
#30, and S.W.G when thinner.
Opening
The distance between the inside surfaces of adjacent
parallel wire and the opening is calculated by the following
formula.
Opening(mm) = 25.4(mm) / mesh - wire dia(mm)
Opening
Area
Gave the percentage of open area in a standard wire
mesh.
Open Area(%) = [(Opening(mm) / (Opening(mm) + Wire
dia(mm)) 2] X 100
